Your information is protected
RideSlot holds information that matters: FAA tracking numbers, addresses, IDs and checkride results. Here is how it is protected.
- Encrypted everywhere
Everything you send travels over an encrypted connection (TLS), and everything stored is encrypted at rest (AES-256).
- Private by default
Your information is visible only to the people on your checkride: you, your examiner, and the organization or instructor who booked it. Examiners choose what contact details are public, and RideSlot administrators see an examiner's contact details to approve them.
- We never track you
RideSlot never asks for your location and never follows you around the web or other apps. No ads, no analytics or tracking tools, and no cookies from other companies. The only places RideSlot knows are the airports and meeting spots typed in for a ride.
- Verified examiners
Every examiner is checked against the FAA's official designee records and approved by a RideSlot administrator before anyone can find or book them.
- Documents stay private
IDs, logbook pages and other uploads are stored privately and shared only on that checkride.
- Audited, US-based hosting
Data is stored in US data centers on infrastructure that is independently audited for security (SOC 2 Type 2).
- Your data is yours
We never sell your information or use it for advertising. Download your records at any time, or delete your account.
We never track you
- Does RideSlot use my location?
- No. The iPhone and iPad app never asks to use Location Services, and the website tells your browser to refuse any request for your location. Weather, times and maps use the airport of the ride, never where you are.
- What does the Lock Screen Live Activity show?
- Only the ride's progress: the test and its airport, the applicant, oral or flight, the timers and how much of the checklist is done. Never where you are.
- Are there ads, analytics or tracking tools?
- No. There is no advertising, analytics, crash-reporting or tracking code from other companies in the app or the website, and RideSlot doesn't ask to track you across other companies' apps and websites.
- What cookies does the website use?
- Only RideSlot's own: to keep you signed in, remember which role you're using, and remember choices on the screen like a ride filter. None from other companies, and none for advertising.
- What about my IP address?
- Our hosting providers see it to deliver pages and keep standard security logs. RideSlot itself keeps only a scrambled copy when someone sends a request from an examiner's website, to stop spam (10 an hour), and forgets it after a day.
